I have some questions about my steering on the 55...

It looks like the OG column...what's the little tube and pin halfway down the length?

Mine looks welded together in the middle of the shaft...why would that be?

The end where the wheel attaches looks diff. than ones on Samba for the year...is mine F.U.?

Can a later shaft be fitted in the 55 column?

What should a Soda Blast cost, approx?

A local shop is supposed to be checking on getting a mobile blasting business to come do several VWs at once, hopefully to save $$.

I have the body off and on a rolling steel dolly for it so he can get to everything.

Or,are there better ways to strip it?

The day I dragged it home. I had just stuck the fenders on with one bolt and the hood had two in it.

I was going to just run it with some painted chromies and ratty paint so I spent a lot of time removing the primer.

start with beam

I chose to cut 2 inches off each side. other have cut 4 inches out of the middle etc. For me, this was the best. cut it the way that works for you. also, I made my own towers so I could roll with stock shocks on a lowered front.

also , put some adjusters on it. I knew that once it was set it was going to be left that way. that is why I chose the type of adjusters.

Went to see Jake today with the Athens Club. All I can say is that this has to be one of the best vw days I have ever had. Shop is great, Dyno worked like a champ all day (25 + pulls) on my car alone. With alot of tuning and tweeking Jake managed to get 99.41hp @ 104.74tq from my 1776 with the belt and muffler in place.

Its the same motor that I had last year that did like 80hp.

It would be good to leave the drums (original ) but disc would be an overall better system ?

Just wanted to get some feedback?

They work fine but would hate to one day not have any.
