I have a subscription. That is because that is so much cheaper. I pay for one year of Hot VW 40 dollar. If I go to the store and by one issue will that cost 12 dollar
and then I have to drive away to buy it. Now will i get it in my mail one month before it comes to the store.

Thankfully, I didn't photograph, or write the story, on Charles' car.
I had it happen to me, though, on a car from Columbus, OH, belonging to Mark Garret. It was that Bahama Blue color, and due to the color separation at the printers, and the fact that blue and green cars are exceptionally hard to nail the color on, on film, the friggin' car turned out pretty near Birch Green. I got an advance copy, came unglued, and went to Ryan (any old BKC guys know all about Ryan Lee Price.... I'll leave it at that) who basically told me tough sh*t, there were some 60,000 copies at the printers, and due to be shipped to the distribution centers in a day or two. I waited for the call from Mark Garret, and sure enough, the call came... Mark was cool, or at least as cool as could be expected with his 3 page feature coming out the wrong color...He knew it wasn't my fault, and it was totally out of my control, but still I felt like crap about it.
That wasn't the worst one, though.... anyone remember the Black and White feature on the Copper Jewel? I coulda KILLED him for that one.
I believe that's the only car in US VW magazine history, that got featured not one, not two, but THREE times.
#1- Black and White, in VW Trends.
#2 Color in Hot VWs,
and right around the same time, or even the same month, I don't remember now
#3 Color in VW Trends.
That's about the time when Ryan tried to make the Dyno Day his own. That's also when I knew that I needed to be the first rat off the sinking ship.
