Anyone running a FK 42 cam in a 2ltr
building another engine, customer wants to fresh some things up a bit. wants to try a FK 42. anyone have any experience with them.
I prefer the Fk-8 for most things. but would like to know of any experiences.
I did talk with the guys at engle, they mentioned sleeving the lifter bores.
thanks.

fwiw i had a fk-10 with 1.4 rockers in my 2276 type 1 that was in my car a while back. it was ok if you dont want anything below 2500. thats a little more of a cam than an 8 if im right and a pretty good bit more than that 42. its also gonna matter what heads and intake/carb set up he wants as well. probably gonna be alright up to around 6 grand i would guess.

sounds like a good environment for coil bind or a broken spring.

I really like the FK 40 series cams.. They are torque monsters! I like the FK 44 and FK45 with a 1.4 rocker and have gotten some really good, smooth running high torque engines from them.
I did a 1915 last year with twin plugs and 10:1 that made 165HP with an FK44 and 44 IDFs..

MPH,
torque is exactly the thought I had , thanks for confirming, for the 42 cam considering the increased ramp speed i thought it would be a little more streetable with a little give on the rpms on the top end compared to the FK-8. spoke to engle today, they stated the 42 will come on around 2K and only be good to 6K.
and yes the 8 comes on at a high rpm with a mid range punch that is carried out to the higher rpm/s.
heads are 044's. I am at 158 cc's at 10 inches right now. I think either cam i put under it will be supported.
